Skiing at Mount Hotham and Dinner Plain

Mount Hotham is just over forty five minutes drive from Omeo. Access to the mountain is the easiest and safest of any alpine resort in Australia.

There are kilometres of regularly groomed trails for cross country skiers on the Omeo side of Mount Hotham, at Wire Plain and at Dinner Plain.

Dinner Plain has a short downhill run which is ideal for beginners and children.

Skis, snowboards and chains can be hired at Billies Ski Hire at the western end of town.

Entry fees are not required for Dinner Plain. Take the kids up for some fun in the snow or enjoy a coffee at Cilantros.

O'Connell's Omeo Bus Service offers transfers to Mount Hotham and Dinner Plain for people who would prefer leaving their cars in Omeo. For more details visit their website at www.omeobus.com.au

What to do in Omeo

Winter is a great time to be in Omeo. Cold, crisp and fresh. Go out to the Oriental Claims, about three kilometres west of town, build yourself a fire and have a BBQ. Get some meat from John Pendergast at Omeo Meats, just down from the motel. His steaks and sausages are renown in the district. He supplies restaurants in town, at Dinner Plain and at Mount Hotham.

Ask Jasmine or Rohan for directions out to the Mitta Mitta River, Blowhard and Benambra, to see some spectacular high country scenery.
